Meet Desi
Desi grew up in a small gold mining town nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, native land to the Miwok Tribe surrounded by the Northern California beauty. She was raised by her beloved Grandmother, Grandfather and two aunts. She was deeply loved and supported and was given the space to stay true to her heart.
She decided to follow in her Grandmother’s and aunt’s footsteps and became a third generation Hair Artist. Since she was very little, she would watch her Grandmother Jean toss and turn piles of backcombed hair into sculpted masterpieces. Desi remembers the way her grandmother’s vibrant and contagious good energy had a way of putting everyone at ease, giving her clients the gift of feeling beautiful on the inside as well as the outside.
Desi was licensed at age 18 and worked in her Aunt Renee’s salon in Monterey where she mastered her art through close guidance and many hours. She took her craft to San Francisco and nourished her clients in the city for 7 years. Life took a left turn by a spark of universal magic when she met the Movement Therapist and Yoga Philosopher Jennifer Durand, who has been her mentor for the past 8 years. Jen guided her in a health and transformational journey, giving her the key to open her mind, intuition, and body. Desi honed in on her process and stayed focused, while staying true to herself - an ideal she has possessed since she was a child. Desi now brings her whole authentic self to others for their own process of healing and transformation.
holistic haircare Ritual
As a Haircare intuitive, Desi incorporates tools in The Haircare Apothecary that spark sensations of joy in the mind and body. Head steams relax the scalp and neck with gentle heat and the scent of organic medicinal herbs and small batch floral oils. Desi intuitively massages the scalp and face to remove tension and help pull stress out of the scalp, face, and neck. A particularly special Haircare tool is her customizable Moon Brush that can be inlaid with stone. Every brush is imprinted with a design to open the door to a perfect Haircare Ritual. Making conscious time and space for love and light in the crown allows us to transform, to see more clearly, and choose our true authentic path. Desi combined her knowledge of hair and yoga and created this practice and healing process.
Desi holds space for the individual who sits in front of her. Desi considers herself a hairkeeper and has a deep respect for the sacredness of the shed of the scalp and hair. Desi gives herself to this work holding private protected space for people to shed and let go on their own terms. She specializes in Holistic Hair Shedding Rituals, Brushing Rituals and the balancing of the scalps ecosystem. Her space in Sonora, CA offers a unique Hair Care Apothecary where she mixes and plays with medicinal herbs harvested by herself and locals to nourish the scalp, hair, and body. Her private space allows each person the peace to set an intention before their custom Haircare ritual. She cares deeply for her craft and becomes energized by sharing this process with her community.
